What happens after my implant surgery?

The next stage after implant placement is the restorative phase. This is when you will have a series of appointments with our restorative team to provide you with your new teeth. These appointments allow us to take impressions your mouth to allow your crowns, bridges or new style dentures to be constructed accurately to fit your new dental implants. Once these have been made in the laboratory by our technicians these can be fitted by our restorative team and your treatment is complete.

How long will I need to wait before I can have my new teeth?

As you will have read implants can be placed immediately following tooth extraction. There are a limited number of patients who are suitable for this and the immediacy of replacement has to be matched with any compromises that may be necessary in implant positioning and aesthetics that, sometimes, may have been needed.

Will I have to go without my denture or bridge before I have my new teeth?

Usually this is not necessary and your dentist or our reconstructive team can provide you with either a temporary bridge or denture to wear whilst your implants are healing. This may be as simple as modifying your existing denture or having a temporary bridge that can be stuck to the back of adjacent teeth.
